DBA Africa Executive Summary

Creating Impact Through Sport Across Kenya and African Region We believe that sport is not the end goal, impact is. Since our founding in 2021, we have used sport as a proven tool to reach, protect, empower, and unlock opportunities for young people across Kenya and East Africa. Every programme we run is designed to create measurable change, on and off the field. DBA Africa works at the point where talent meets access. Where young people from underserved communities are given the structure, support, and belief they need to grow, not only as athletes, but as confident, capable individuals. Today, DBA Africa delivers grassroots sports development, life skills education, athlete welfare, and ethical talent pathways across multiple sports, regions, and age groups, ensuring no young person is left behind because of circumstance.

What Our Impact Looks Like

Through our programmes, we have:

  • Reached over 15,000 young people through sport, education, and wellbeing initiatives
  • Awarded 143+ academic and sports scholarships, locally and internationally
  • Created safe sport environments for more than 1,000 girls, supporting long-term participation
  • Delivered 650+ hours of coaching and life skills education
  • Supported athletes across 5 regions, 2 countries, and 4 sports

These numbers represent lives changed, doors opened, and futures reshaped.

How We Create Change

Grassroots Academies That Build More Than Athletes

DBA Africa operates a growing network of sports academies that provide consistent training, mentorship, and safe competition. Our academies are designed to develop discipline, resilience, leadership, and community connection, alongside athletic performance.

Ethical Pathways to Opportunity

Through age-grade competitions, exposure tournaments, and scholarship placements, we connect grassroots athletes to real opportunities. Our flagship Futures Cup has become East Africa’s leading U15 rugby platform, helping identify talent fairly and placing over 140 athletes into schools and development programmes.

Girls in sport” at the Centre of Development

In regions where girls often drop out of sport due to social and structural barriers, DBA Africa intentionally builds inclusive, protected pathways. We combine sport with life skills education, safeguarding, access to resources, and leadership development, ensuring girls don’t just participate, they thrive.

Athlete Welfare Beyond the Game

Through initiatives like Tackle-It and the Big 5 / Little 5 Athlete Programmes, we address mental health, violence prevention, financial literacy, nutrition, and career planning. These programmes ensure athletes are prepared for life during and after sport.

Removing Financial Barriers to Excellence

Our Athletics Race Fund directly removes cost barriers by supporting race entry, transport, and accommodation allowing athletes to compete on merit, not means. This approach has already resulted in both sporting success and economic return for athletes.

Why DBA Africa’s Work Matters

Too many young people with potential are excluded from opportunity due to gender, geography, finances, or lack of visibility. DBA Africa exists to change that reality by investing early, supporting consistently, and measuring impact honestly. We don’t just run programmes. We build pathways, protection, and possibility.
