DBA Africa Rugby Academy Reopens for the 2026 Season
As the festive season comes to an end, DBA Africa is thrilled to announce the official reopening of our Nairobi-based Rugby Academy. We are opening our gates to the next generation of young athletes, ready to kick off a year defined by growth, lifeskills, and the opportunities that come with the game.
We officially return to the pitch on Sunday, 11th January 2026, at the Kenton College Preparatory School grounds. Training will take place between 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM, welcoming both familiar faces and new comers to our DBA Africa family.
More Than Just a Game: Skills for Life
At DBA Africa, we believe that the rugby pitch is the ultimate classroom. Our academy is designed for children aged 9 to 18, creating a unique environment where technical rugby skills, such as passing and tactical awareness, are seamlessly integrated with essential life skills.
Our strength lies in our diversity. By bringing together students from international, private, and government schools alongside children from local communities, we foster a rich cultural exchange and youth development. This depth in different backgrounds has become the backbone of our academy, teaching our players the value of empathy, teamwork, and building relationships.
The DBA Pathway is more than a training schedule, it is a door to the future. We take immense pride in the doors that have opened for our members, including:
- Student Scholarships: We continue to facilitate life-changing scholarship opportunities to local national schools and prestigious international schools.
- Coaching Excellence: Our academy serves as a starting point for our staff, providing them with professional development and the chance to lead rugby programs in schools across the region.
2026 promises a packed calendar of amazing fixtures. We are committed to giving our athletes a stage to showcase their talent:
- The Futures Cup: Our flagship regional tournament, for boys and girls, where top selected rugby talent meet in Nairobi for a battle for the Main Cup.
- The Rift Valley Kingsley Cup: A prestigious 7s tournament that takes our talent to the heart of Kenya’s rugby country.
- Rugby Festivals: Smaller, intimate festivals designed to keep children practicing their craft while interacting with different teams.
- Friendlies: occasional one off or return fixtures played with international schools, other academies or combine teams.
We look forward to the experiences, the friendships, partnerships and the tries that await us in the year ahead. Join us at Kenton College this January, let’s make 2026 a year to remember.
