A Fresh Vision for the 2026 Athletics Race Fund
With the release of a highly competitive 2026 Athletics Kenya calendar,including the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and the Youth Olympics in Dakar, it is paramount for DBA Africa to expand our commitment through the Athletics Race Fund (ARF). This initiative is a vital lifeline, providing aspiring athletes with the necessary support to qualify for and participate in elite racing competitions. This year, we are transitioning to a more holistic and structured approach to ensure our impact goes beyond the finish line.
DBA Africa Nurturing Talent Through Sports Development
By the close of 2025, the Athletics Race Fund, one of our many DBA programmes, had already attracted an overwhelming number of applicants, with 100 direct beneficiaries reaching new heights. Our community celebrated numerous success stories, from personal bests to emerging talents making their debut on the national stage. These are stories of triumph and profound learning opportunities that highlight the transformative power of sport development.
A Holistic Approach to Youth Development
Athletes are the heart of the sporting ecosystem, and their well-being is our priority both on and off the pitch. Many of the young talents we encounter face hurdles that extend beyond the track, without a stable home or a solid support system, even the greatest athletic potential can dwindle. True youth development requires addressing these socio-economic barriers to ensure that every stride taken in training leads to a sustainable future.
Unlocking Sports Opportunities Across Kenya
With competitions serving as the pinnacle of achievement, many athletes remain sidelined due to financial constraints. In 2026, our mandate is to bridge this gap. We aim to enter as many aspiring athletes as possible into local meets and national qualifiers. From the Thika Track and Field meetings to the National Championships in Nairobi, the logistics of travel, accommodation, and nutrition often become obstacles. For many, 2026 is their "breakthrough year”, a chance to qualify for the world stage and achieve financial independence.
