At DBA Africa we believe partnerships built on shared values have a power that spreads far beyond borders, our relationship with Bryanston School in the UK demonstrates what can be achieved when education, rugby and community support come together.
It demonstrates the impact of youth development through sport, creating opportunities for young athletes through education, rugby and long-term support systems. 

What began as a life-changing opportunity for a single athlete has grown into an initiative that continues to equip, inspire, and encourage hundreds of young sportsmen and women across the region.

A Trip That Started with One

The story began when Bryanston offered a scholarship to Rayvon “Forest” Amunga, a remarkable young talent from a marginalised background. During his two years at Bryanston, Ray benefited from a world-class education and rugby environment that challenged him academically, personally and as an athlete. The experience provided opportunities that would have previously been out of reach.
The opportunity also provided Ray with an incredible platform to give back. Every time he travelled home, the school ensured he returned with bags packed with sports kit for his academy teammates, local friends and family, giving essential gear to children who otherwise would have gone without.

Ray’s journey reflects DBA Africa’s commitment to creating player pathways in Kenya, where talented young athletes can access education, coaching and international opportunities while continuing to contribute to their communities. Bryanston’s investment in Ray created opportunities that extended beyond one athlete, reaching teammates and young players within his wider community. 

Equipping the Next Generation

Over the past 3 years, Bryanston’s continued generosity has played a vital role in keeping young athletes on the field, dressed with pride:

• In 2025, Bryanston donated a set of 25 brand new playing shirts. Today, these serve as our official DBA Africa U18 7s tops. More than that, they act as a community resource, frequently loaned out during DBA tournaments to visiting grassroots teams who lack their own kit, ensuring no child feels left out on match day and young players can participate equally.
• In June 2026, Bryanston’s Director of Sport, Nick Williams, visited Kenya. He arrived laden with gear that was immediately distributed to underserved academies across Nairobi. Thanks to his visit, all 45 players at the DBA Kabras Girls Academy received complete sets of training shirts and shorts. Again, new. With labels on and all.  Something taken for granted around the world.On top of the physical donations, Nick generously shared his time and elite expertise on the field, running coaching clinics for both our DBA athletes and local coaching staff.
• Most recently, during a UK visit by DBA Director Storm Trentham, Bryanston donated an incredible 60 sets of brand-new Under Armour shirts and shorts following a school kit transition. In a region where basic kit is often the biggest barrier to participation, these resources provide additional support for grassroots teams where access to quality equipment remains a barrier to participation.

A Ripple Impact Across East Africa

From a single scholarship to outfitting entire academies, Bryanston’s support goes far beyond customary sponsorship. It represents a long-term commitment to youth development, community access and creating opportunities through sport. 

Every shirt worn, every session coached, and every tournament played in this kit reinforces the incredible bond between Bryanston School and East Africa.
