Darlton Roy George Returns as Kingsley School Takes Kenya by Storm

It was a proud, emotional moment for the DBA Africa family recently as we reunited with one of our standout athletes from the 2024–2025 cohort, Darlton Roy George. A former Brookhouse School alumnus. Darlton earned a prestigious partial scholarship to Kingsley School in Devon, UK, a landmark achievement for him and a testament to the pathways created through DBA Africa’s developmental programs.

Darlton was a powerhouse in our Nairobi-based academy, standing out not just for his formidable physical presence, but for his exceptional adaptability and skill. From mastering fundamentals to competing in the DBA Africa Futures Cup, his trajectory soared when he was selected for the DBA Africa Dream Team that toured and conquered Uganda.

A year into his journey abroad, Darlton came full circle last month when Kingsley School was on a rugby tour to Kenya. This time, he lined up in the U18 squad against the very teammates he grew up alongside. Watching him face his former team was a bittersweet experience, but his impact on the pitch was undeniable. Darlton anchored the Kingsley squad, showcasing the resilience, tactical awareness, and quiet confidence that have become his hallmarks. His bold, line-breaking runs, ferocious tackles, and sharp decision-making under pressure highlighted a young player who has truly embraced leadership on the international stage.

“Darlton has matured well, both in his studies and his rugby,” noted Philip Wamae, Head of Academies and Fixtures. “It is great to see him still able to express himself both on and off the pitch. Seeing him back in Kenya with a different outfit was tough, but we are thrilled for him and his achievements.”

Since arriving at Kingsley School, Darlton has adapted brilliantly to the intensity of the UK schools league, traveling across the country and competing at the highest levels. A standout moment in his debut year was representing Kingsley at the iconic Rosslyn Park National Schools Sevens, the world's largest school rugby tournament, featuring thousands of elite young athletes.

Darlton’s growth over the past year reflects the core values instilled through DBA Africa: teamwork, discipline, and unwavering determination, fundamentals you can not teach in a classroom. His success demonstrates how sport can serve as a powerful vehicle for personal growth and academic advancement.

As we celebrate Darlton’s journey, we remain committed to unlocking pathways for young talent, providing athletes across the region with opportunities to pursue higher education while competing at the highest level.
