At DBA Africa, our pride stems from the mission, crafting unmatched opportunities for the next generation of East African talent. While our foundation was built on the pillars of rugby, athletics, and lacrosse, and more recently, a stint in football through the Tujiamini initiative, our true success is measured in the lives transformed. With over 700 athletes across our regional academies, we have become a forge for excellence, securing over 140 local scholarships, two prestigious international placements and two more in the pipeline.

Among these success stories, one name currently resonates with particular strength, Darlton Roy George.

From the Academy to the International Stage

Darlton has always been a standout, and not merely because of his physical presence. Since joining the DBA academy in 2023, he has embodied the "DBA DNA", a blend of rapid tactical grasping, disciplined work ethic, and a natural flair for the game. His trajectory has been steep, from representing regional teams in the Futures Cup to earning a spot on the 2025 DBA Dream Team that toured Uganda, Darlton has consistently proven he belongs on the big stage.

That stage recently expanded to the legendary pitches of south-west England. Now on a sports scholarship at Kingsley School in the UK for over a year, Darlton recently represented his school at the prestigious Rosslyn Park National Schools Sevens, the largest school rugby tournament in the world.

The Rosslyn Park Experience

To understand the magnitude of this moment, one must look at the numbers. With over 1,180 teams, 15,000 athletes, and 4,250 matches packed into five high-intensity days, Rosslyn Park is the ultimate proving ground for schoolboy rugby. Sponsored by Howden Insurance, the tournament is a masterclass in professional sports.

For Darlton, it was a revelation. Reflecting on his debut, he noted:

"Playing at Rosslyn Park for the first time was an unreal experience. The intensity, the atmosphere, and the level of competition really pushed me to another level. Coming from Kenya, we naturally bring flair and creativity, if we can match that with the same level of discipline and organisation I see here, we can compete with anyone in time."

Building Bridges Through Sport

Darlton’s success is a testament to why DBA Africa was nominated for the African Global Awards. We aren't just teaching sports, we are opening doors to global education and cultural exchange. Darlton is bridging the gap between Kenyan creativity and British structure.

The Kingsley School side delivered a solid performance throughout the tournament, proving they belong among the elite. But the story doesn't end in Devon. We are thrilled to announce that the connection between our institutions continues to grow. This July, we look forward to welcoming 34 Kingsley rugby and netball players to East Africa for an 11 day sports and outreach tour.

As Darlton continues to shine in the UK, he carries the hopes of hundreds of athletes back home. He is proof that with the right pathway, a young athlete from East Africa can take on the world.
