DBA Africa Q2 2025 Impact | Youth Sports Development in Kenya and Africa
DBA Africa Quarter Two 2025 highlights U16 international tours, academy tournaments, stakeholder partnerships, merchandise fundraising, and grassroots sports development across Kenya and Africa.
DBA Africa Quarter Two 2025: Talent on Tour, Partnerships in Action, and Youth Sport in Motion
Quarter Two of 2025 marked a defining period for DBA Africa, driven by competition, collaboration, and clear progress across youth development pathways. From international exposure to grassroots tournaments, the quarter reflected DBA’s commitment to sports development in Africa, with young athletes at the centre of every milestone.
DBA Futures Cup Dream Team Tours Uganda
A major highlight of the quarter was the DBA Futures Cup Dream Team U16 tour to Uganda, where elite young players showcased their talent beyond Kenya’s borders. The tour offered international match exposure, cultural exchange, and competitive learning, reinforcing DBA Africa’s focus on preparing athletes for regional and global opportunities.
For the players, the tour was more than rugby. It was about discipline, adaptability, and representing their communities with pride, key traits in long-term athlete development. Some of the intangible life skills we reinforce at DBA.
Supporting Athletes Through Purposeful Partnerships
Quarter Two also saw the launch of DBA Africa merchandise in partnership with Healthy U, a strategic initiative designed to support academy athletes directly. Proceeds from merchandise sales contributed to training needs, competition costs, and athlete welfare, proving that sustainable sports development is built through shared value and innovative partnerships.
In addition, DBA Africa hosted a multi-stakeholder forum in partnership with Village Market and other key stakeholders, bringing together voices from sport, youth development, education, and the private sector. The forum focused on shaping the future of sport and youth development in Kenya, highlighting the importance of collaboration in building safe, inclusive, and effective pathways for young people.
Celebrating Academy Sport and Community Engagement
DBA Africa continued to celebrate academy sport through competitive rugby fixtures in partnership with Merishaw and the Ololo Foundation. These matches reinforced the role of sport as a community connector, offering young athletes a platform to compete while engaging with supporters, partners, and families.
Strong Performances on the Local Circuit
On the competitive front, DBA Africa academy teams participated in a Rift Valley-based tournament, recording three wins out of five games. The results reflected growing cohesion, tactical understanding, and resilience among the squads, particularly under pressure.
At the age-grade level:
- The DBA U13 squad impressed at the Ndume 7s, demonstrating skill development, confidence, and mental resilience in a fast-paced tournament environment.
- The DBA U15 team competed at the prestigious Turi 7s, gaining valuable experience against strong opposition and earning top honours, further validating the academy’s structured development model.
These tournaments play a critical role in talent identification in Kenya, allowing young athletes to grow through real competition rather than isolated trials.
Looking Ahead
Quarter Two 2025 reaffirmed DBA Africa’s mission to use sport as a vehicle for opportunity, education, and character development. Through international tours, grassroots competition, strategic partnerships, and stakeholder engagement, DBA Africa continues to strengthen pathways for young athletes across Kenya and the region.
As the year progresses, DBA remains focused on nurturing talent, supporting wellbeing, and building sustainable systems that allow young people to thrive, on and off the field.
