DBA Africa and Otso Unite to Empower Upcoming Athletes at the Moiben 21KM Race

DBA Africa is thrilled to share the phenomenal success of our recent collaboration with Otso, a European sportswear company specializing in outdoor sports, to support aspiring athletes at the highly anticipated Moiben 21KM race in Iten.

During one of her many visits to Iten, our DBA Africa director, Storm Trentham had the privilege of meeting Jordi Sole, the owner of Otso. This meeting matured into an exchange of ideas off the back of their shared passion for athletics and athlete development. The resulting relationship saw the organizer reserve 100 race slots specifically for upcoming athletes identified and supported by DBA Africa.

The Moiben 21KM race is renowned in the local athletics community for its splendid organization and competitive field. Since inception of the Athletics Race Fund and the Kevin McCool Memorial Fund, this particular event has been the most talked-about and a must-attend for athletes in the region.

Upon receiving slots, DBA Africa immediately set out to fill them. We were able to secure 25 keen athletes from the Kevin McCool Memorial Fund group who had prioritized this event at the start of the year. This left us with a remaining 75 slots to fill through the Athletics Race Fund programme. Leveraging our established networks and a strategic social media campaign, the response was immediate and overwhelming. We hit our target of 99 athletes in just two days, a powerful testament to the athletes' desire and dedication to securing opportunities to race and prove their capabilities.

The performances by the DBA Africa-supported runners were nothing short of astounding, underscoring the raw talent present within the group.

Standout Results

Women Rael Cheop Boiyo 1:15:35 15th Winnie Kimutai (1:10:13)

Notably, within the group from the Kevin McCool Fund, Victor Kiprono was the top male performer, clocking a fantastic time of 1:06:16 to finish in 43rd place overall. The women from the fund also showed commendable spirit and effort, proudly participating and competing fiercely in the event.

DBA Africa extends its deepest gratitude to Jordi Sole and the entire Otso team for their remarkable collaboration and support. This partnership was a monumental success, providing vital race experience and exposure to nearly a hundred, out of the 400 dedicated athletes. We also thank all our supporters whose contributions make these ventures possible.

We are immensely proud of all the athletes who ran the Moiben 21KM and are eagerly anticipating an even more successful and impactful 2026 across all our initiatives.
