Rayvon Ambale post scholarship and the Bryanston experience
For many young people, opportunity is not defined by talent alone, but by access, access to guidance, exposure, and environments that nurture long-term growth. For Rayvon Amunga alias “Forest”, his journey from Kenya to the United Kingdom through Bryanston School represents what is possible when preparation meets opportunity.
Reflecting on his time in the UK, Rayvon describes an experience that challenged him beyond academics. Adjusting to a new education system required discipline, adaptability, and maturity, but it also offered structure and support, something we advocate for at DBA Africa. “The teachers really take time to understand you as an individual,” he shares. “They push you, but they also support you, and that balance helped me grow both academically and personally.” This approach to learning helped Rayvon build confidence and independence, skills that extend far beyond the classroom.
Rayvon’s journey highlights the importance of intentional development pathways, a core focus of us. As an organization dedicated to youth development and international opportunity creation, DBA works to identify potential early and prepare students holistically before placing them in global institutions. The objective is not simply access, but readiness, ensuring that young people are equipped to thrive in demanding academic and sporting environments.
At DBA, development is viewed as a long-term process. Rayvon’s experience reflects this philosophy clearly. Through mentorship, guidance, and alignment with the right institutions, DBA supported his growth both as a student and an athlete. This foundation allowed him to step confidently into international spaces while remaining grounded in discipline and character.
Growth Beyond the Classroom and School Calendar
Rayvon’s development did not stop when school was out of session. During off-term periods, he earned the opportunity to train and compete with UK-based clubs such as Shogun Rugby, exposing him to elite rugby environments beyond the school system. These experiences allowed him to test himself against high-level competition and adapt to faster, more physical styles of play.
Competing in elite tournaments, Rayvon gained valuable lessons in resilience and self-awareness. “The level was high, and it showed me where I needed to improve,” he reflects. “Those moments pushed me mentally and physically, and they helped build my confidence.” These competitive experiences played a crucial role in shaping his understanding of what it takes to perform consistently at higher levels.
Equally impactful was the sense of community he found within his teams. Playing alongside teammates from different backgrounds broadened his perspective. “Being around different teammates taught me how to communicate better and respect different cultures,” Rayvon says. “You learn quickly that teamwork goes beyond the pitch.” This exposure reinforced values of collaboration and accountability, principles that align strongly with DBA’s holistic development approach.
A Message of Resilience and Belief
Throughout his journey, Rayvon has remained clear on one guiding principle: perseverance. The challenges of adapting to a new country, balancing academics with elite sport, and competing in unfamiliar environments tested him deeply. Yet, as he reflects, “There are moments when things feel difficult, but quitting is never an option. Every challenge is preparing you for something bigger.”
This mindset forms a central message Rayvon shares with young athletes and students aspiring to similar opportunities. “Stay humble and never forget that hard work doesn't go unrewarded,” he says. “Opportunities don’t always come immediately, but if you stay disciplined and trust the process, your time will come, above all put God first cause prayers will always take you further.”
Rayvon Ambale’s journey is not an isolated success, but part of a wider vision that DBA continues to build, one focused on creating sustainable pathways for young people to access international education, elite sport exposure, and personal development opportunities. By working closely with UK schools, sports institutions, and aligned brands, we aim to expand access and ensure that talent is supported beyond borders.
Looking ahead, we remain committed to strengthening partnerships with educational institutions, development organizations, and corporate brands that believe in long-term youth development. These collaborations are essential to scaling impact and creating more stories like Rayvon’s, stories rooted in preparation, opportunity, and resilience.
Rayvon Amungas experience serves as a reminder that talent exists everywhere, but opportunity must be intentionally created and supported. Through mentorship, exposure, and strategic partnerships, DBA continues to build bridges between potential and possibility.
