From Grassroots to Greatness
DBA Africa Gear Up for the Eldoret City Marathon
As April unfolds, the Athletics Race Fund (ARF) and the Kevin McCool Memorial Fund (KMMF) are in full flight. We are intensifying our preparations for one of the most anticipated events on the Kenyan sporting calendar, the Eldoret City Marathon, scheduled for Sunday morning, April 26th.
“ Known for its high altitude and world-class talent pool, the Eldoret City Marathon is a favorite for many. We expect nothing short of elite-level competition as athletes from across the region gather to test their mettle, the athletes have been hitting the road training, now it's time for them to put their tests to trial”- said DBA Africa Director Lyle Asiligwa.
Building on Last Year’s Success
Reflecting on our previous outing, DBA Africa was proud to sponsor 13 male and female athletes through the Kevin McCool Memorial Fund. These events are more than just races, they are vital platforms for local talent to gain visibility.
In the "Home of Champions," major marathons attract talent identifiers, brand scouts, and management teams looking for the next world-class distance runner. Last year, our group showed incredible resolve, highlighted by Sarah Jerop, who secured an impressive 28th place finish, setting the benchmark for our team.
The Road to April 26th: 2026 Entry Details
This year, we are expanding our impact by entering athletes through both the KMMF and the ARF, continuing our mission of bridging the gap from "grassroots to greatness."
Interest is already surging following the official release of the race posters. Here is how we are managing entries for this year's event:
- Athletics Race Fund (ARF): We have committed to sponsoring five athletes for this race. To apply, visit the DBA Africa website, locate our contact number, and send a WhatsApp message expressing your interest. The first five eligible athletes to reach out will be registered for this prestigious event.
- Kevin McCool Memorial Fund (KMMF): Requests are currently being processed from our shortlisted group of athletes. We are working diligently to ensure as many representatives from this fund as possible are at the starting line.
Looking Ahead
At DBA Africa, our philosophy is embedded in our name: Dream, Believe, Achieve. We are looking forward to a weekend of exceptional participation and fierce competition.
We wish all our athletes the very best in their final weeks of training. We hope this marathon serves as the catalyst for your dreams to come true on the global stage.
See you in Eldoret.
