DBA Africa at the Eldoret City Marathon

The long-awaited Eldoret City Marathon has arrived, sparking a wave of enthusiasm across the athletic community. For runners in Elgeyo Marakwet County and beyond, this isn’t just another race, it is a life-changing opportunity. Scheduled for 26th April all are eager for the event.

Labelled as the highest-paying marathon on the continent, the event offers the top prize of 3.5 Million Kenya Shillings. This significant sum, combined with its status as a qualifier for the Abbott World Marathon Majors, has elevated the race’s profile to a global stage.

Empowering the Next Generation: Our Funds in Action

At DBA Africa, our mission is to create pathways for talent through sport. We are proud to announce that through the Kevin McCool Memorial Fund and the Athletics Race Fund (ARF), we have facilitated race entries for over 10 promising athletes.

By removing the financial barriers to entry, we allow these runners to focus entirely on their performance and the potential to stand on the podium.

The Kevin McCool Memorial Fund

Representing the legacy of Kevin McCool, six dedicated athletes will be taking to the streets of Eldoret:

  • Purity Kalekye Mutui
  • Patrick Koech
  • Kiplimo Dismas
  • Dickson Katagon
  • Jonathan Kiprotich Murgor
  • Mathew Kipchirchir Kosgei

The Athletics Race Fund (ARF)

The ARF roster features a dynamic mix of established names and fresh talent. We are particularly excited to see our newest additions test their mettle when the rubber hits the road:

  • Daniel Kibiwott
  • Edwin Kiprop
  • Hassan Kirwa
  • Edwin Maritim
  • Wilson Kiprop Tuitoek

Beyond the Finish Line: Climate Action

The Eldoret City Marathon is about more than just speed, it is about sustainability. Recognizing the urgent need for climate action, the race organizers have centered their CSR efforts on environmental conservation.

On the eve of the race, esteemed guests and legends of the sport will lead a tree-planting exercise, ensuring that the marathon leaves a lasting, green legacy for the region.

Flying the DBA Flag High

As the starting pistol nears, we wish all our athletes the very best. Their discipline and grit embody the spirit of DBA Africa. We are honored to provide the exposure and opportunities necessary for these athletes to showcase their talent to the world.

Go get them, Team DBA.
