Kingsley Cup Returns to Turi for U13 Rugby Showcase Powered by DBA Africa
This Sunday 20th July, five under-13 rugby teams that DBA supports, will gather at St Andrew’s Turi for the Kingsley Cup, a grassroots rugby tournament designed to spotlight emerging youth talent in Kenya.
The event is a standalone tournament sponsored by Kingsley School, Devon to boost sports development in rugby in Kenya. It is hosted by DBA Africa in generous partnership with St Andrew’s Turi and acts as a great pathway for these players to develop and go onto represent Nairobi Bulldozers or Rift Valley Lakers in the U15 Futures Cup in a year or two. The round-robin sevens format will see teams from Nairobi, Nakuru and Molo compete in a full morning of fast-paced youth rugby.
Participating teams include:
- DBA WaziWazi Nairobi u13
- Gilgil Vumbi Age Grade Centre u13
Nakuru Teachers Age Grade Centre u13
Nakuru Rugby Age Grade Centre u13 - Turi Age Grade Centre u13
The Nairobi team — WaziWazi DBA Nairobi U13 — is supported through DBA Africa’s partnership with WaziWazi, which has helped grow visibility and identity for Nairobi-based grassroots rugby. Their involvement reflects a shared commitment to expanding opportunities for young players in the capital through consistent sport engagement and local training environments.
The Kingsley Cup reflects a growing collaboration between Kingsley School Devon and DBA Africa. In 2026, Kingsley will tour Kenya with their U15 & U18 boys rugby teams, taking part in the Futures Cup and joining community-based rugby and education initiatives run by DBA. Kingsley have also hosted DBA Western coach, Hasan Ali, for 6 months in the UK as a rugby and S&C coach. He will be returning to Kingsley for a year this August.
Now in its second edition, the Kingsley Cup continues to show the value of structured, well-run rugby competition at younger age levels. It builds on the momentum from recent events like the Futures Cup Girls Edition, where Rift Valley Lakers were crowned champions, and shows the importance of strengthening regional rugby centres in both Nairobi and Nakuru.
Where young people make friends, play, grow, and lead — that is the goal. Through youth sport, DBA Africa remains committed to building confidence, leadership and opportunity for every child.
