This is a place where aspiring athletes train with a relentless passion, hoping to turn their athletic talent into a career. Yet, as our director and founder, Storm Trentham, and French athlete Boris Motte recently discovered on their visit, the journey is filled with challenges.

Even in this epicenter of athletic excellence, many athletes struggle to meet their basic day-to-day expenses, let alone cover the crucial costs of race entry fees. They pour countless hours into hard training, driven by the hope of a brighter future.

This is precisely where the DBA Africa Athletics Fund makes a difference. Through this fund, we're providing tangible support to these dedicated athletes. As we've shared in previous stories, the fund has been a lifeline for many, enabling them to enter races and earn the prize money that helps them continue on their professional path.

Boris Motte had this to say about the trip: “Three days of total immersion, meeting many key figures of the Iten running scene: Athletes, local coaches, running house managers, local stars… and maybe even future legends? I arrived with many questions. Not all of them have been answered—and honestly, one trip to this ‘running paradise’ will never be enough. But one thing is certain: most of these kids need our support, and it likely won't come from anywhere else.

Their smiles, dedication, and kindness are worth everything. I don’t claim that DBA will solve all the problems—but if it can bring even a little bit of hope, then it’s already a step in the right direction.
