Celebrating Sport and Partnerships, Wazi Wazi and DBA Africa on Japan’s Sports Day
On this Japan's Sports Day (Taiiku no Hi), DBA Africa is excited to spotlight an incredible partnership that embodies the spirit of global connection through sport, our collaboration with Wazi Wazi, a Japan-based company driven by experienced professional rugby athletes and business leaders.
This day, a national holiday in Japan dedicated to promoting sports and an active lifestyle (amongst young athletes), is the perfect moment to celebrate how our joint efforts are nurturing young talent in Kenya.
Nurturing Talent in Nairobi
The support from Wazi Wazi has been foundational to the smooth running and success of the DBA Africa Nairobi Rugby Academy at Kenton College. Their commitment ensures that we can offer a safe, structured, and well-equipped rugby environment for every child. Governed by our sports safeguarding policies.
This isn't just about training, it's about building character, fostering discipline, and giving young participants a stable, positive outlet for their energy.
A Legacy of Generosity
The impact of the Wazi Wazi partnership is visible every time our young athletes step onto the pitch. Through their generosity, we have received numerous essential donations, including:
- Rugby Balls and Training Equipment: Ensuring our coaches have the tools they need to run high-quality sessions.
- Academy Shirts: Recently, we received a donation of fantastic shirts that the children proudly wear during training, fixtures, and group outings, fostering a strong sense of team identity and belonging.
These contributions go beyond the material, they represent Wazi Wazi's investment in the future of African rugby and, more importantly, in the well-being of the children themselves.
Embracing the Spirit of Sports Day
Today, as we celebrate with our friends in Japan, we are reminded of the universal power of sport. It is a language that crosses borders, connects cultures, and is a vital tool for personal development.
DBA Africa and Wazi Wazi share the belief that participation in sport teaches invaluable life lessons: teamwork, resilience, respect, and the joy of achieving a goal through hard work.
We extend our deepest gratitude to the leaders and team at Wazi Wazi for their vision and dedicated support.
We also use this day to urge more enthusiastic participants (of all ages and abilities) to get engaged with sport-related activities. Whether it's rugby, running, or a simple neighborhood game, get active, stay healthy, and experience the 'Game-Changing Power of Sport.'
Happy Japan's Sports Day. Let's keep the ball rolling.
