The two Nairobi based Futures Cup teams, Nairobi Lightning and Nairobi Bulldozers got the opportunity to play a 10-aside match at the Kenya vs Uganda Legends match at Harlequins.

DBA Africa shows the way of rugby development

After the huge success of the Futures Cup, rugby leadership and coaches have turned to DBA for guidance on how to grow rugby over the coming 5 years. The ultimate goal is to put Kenya firmly back on the map in rugby 7s, and to make serious in roads into rugby 15s investment.

The Futures Cup gets off to a flying start

On Friday, 14 July 2023, over 250 junior rugby players, selected from over 1000, came together at St Christopher's school in Nairobi for the first of its kind 15-a-side tournament. Eight U15 regional teams from Central, Coastal, Rift Valley, 2 Nairobi and 2 Western and a team from Kampala, Uganda started competing, with the final match deciding the winner to take place on the 16th of July.

DBA Africa's rugby Ambassador, Andrew Amonde said of the Futures Cup "the tournament will expose these kids to a higher level of competition, driving them to ultimately become better players. The beaming smiles on these kids' faces says it all - how exciting and how amazing to be part of this tournament."
